Pastor Jonathan Herron
Saturday morning was full of God's favor: amazing weather + positive media exposure. 50 thousands eggs were more than enough for the thousands that flooded into SVSU (Saginaw Valley State University). We've definitely learned from past experience how to better shepherd crowds safely and ensure every child goes home with plenty of eggs and memories!!
Its been amazing to watch God bring together such a diverse team of Lifers from all across our region. We had 50 volunteers serving their guts out for the thousands of guests at our event. Best Comment from a non-Christian today: "You're volunteers seemed friendly, NORMAL, & having fun. I might come try your Easter service." This is WHY we do the Egg Drop!!
Even more amazing to me: the overwhelmingly positive and encouraging news stories about Easter at Life Church from The Saginaw News, Fox 66 News, WNEM CBS5 News, The Christian Post, and the Tuscola County Advertiser (check out link to ABC12 News clip here).
Easter Sunday was a BLAST:
- our 3-week-old church kissed 200 in attendance
- at least 10 people received Christ!
- 10 people signed up for baptisms on Sun, May 12th!
Eighteen months ago, three leaders spoke godly advice and vision and life into me. They believed in Amber and I, loving on our family when we needed love the most. Like Jesus, they walked toward us, not away. I am forever grateful for these men: Perry Noble, Chris Elrod, and Scott Harris. Without them, there would be no Life Church.
Sixteen months ago, two pastors in Michigan began walking alongside our family, pouring healing and hope and radical grace into our lives. I am so thankful to have Norm Byers and Jeff Forester in my life and serving on Life Church's Board.
When we began talking about starting a fresh new church completely from scratch, there were five of us: me, my wife, and the Trinity.
Yesterday we held our first weekly worship service at Saginaw Valley State University... and there were 145 of us! Even more incredible? ELEVEN people became Christ followers!
