Welcome Pastor Armand Collins, Elim Baptist Church in Detroit

Converge MidAmerica and Elim Baptist Church welcomes Pastor Armand Collins.  He was the former Associate Minister of the Church of the Abundant Life in Southfield, MI and is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey. 

He and his wife Stephanie have been married for 10 years and have 3 children.  Pastor Collins received his spiritual foundation at Trinity Missionary Church in Pontiac, MI under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Robert E. Bailey.  He accepted Christ as his Savior there and was baptized at age 11 in 1991.  Pastor Collins felt God's call to preach ministry in 2001 and entered seminary at that time.

Elim Baptist Church is an African American church in Detroit with a membership of 125.  It originally was the First Swedish Baptist Church of Detroit (1916) and the church was located near downtown Detroit. It was then moved to city's west side at current location on Lahser in 1954 where they adopted the name "Elim Baptist Church".   

Pastor Collins is the second African American pastor of this historic church.
