It's Church Health Month

From Gary Rohrmayer - President Converge MidAmerica

May is Church Health Month!

We are serious about church health.

Why? Because scripture mandates it.

The Apostle Paul in his letter (actually a field manual) to Titus, who was serving as a regional leader on the island of Crete, charged Titus with the task of strengthening the churches there. He writes, "The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished..." Titus 1:5. Some commentators say that Titus was working with 100 churches or more on the island of Crete.

Guessing or Assessing?

By Gary Rohrmayer

Do you know why the Leaning Tower of Pisa leans over 12 feet off-center at the top? The builders failed to adequately calculate the depth of foundation needed to support the weight of the building in that specific soil.

Today we are a lot smarter, right? Maybe. In 1967 the construction of the 99 story Hancock Tower in Chicago was halted at the 20th floor because the soil settlement was greater than could withstand the weight of the full building. So construction stopped, and the owner went bankrupt, while they came up with an engineering fix to the problem....

Starting and Strengthening Churches

Why? Because scripture mandates it!

The Apostle Paul in his letter (actually a field manual) to Titus, who was serving as a regional leader on the island of Crete, charged Titus with the task of strengthening the churches there. He writes, "The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was...

Taking Threats to Church Health Seriously

By Dick Loizeaux

Contrary to many of the seminars you and I have attended, we all know that the church is more than just sermons, strategies and systems. It is a living thing with a beating heart. Our church a “body” and like every body it is susceptible to infections that make it sick. Our church a “family” and like any family it probably has dysfunctional behaviors that affect everyone in the family system. Our...

Converge MidAmerica Welcomes The Church

By Dan Reece

In 2008 my daughter came home to visit. Over dinner she started thinking and finally asked: “Dad, you were a supervisor for thirty-five years. You’ve worked at Subaru. You’ve now retired twice. What are you going to do now?” I paused for a moment and very matter of fact, stated “I’m going to be a pastor.” That’s when I decided to answer a calling that I had been unsure about for several...
